About Ben – Life Outside the Ceremony

  • Pottsville Beach Local – I live by the sea with my amazing wife Tarnie, our two teenage boys, and our four-legged legend, Panda the Bordoodle. Life is busy, loud, and full of love — just how we like it.

  • Movement + Mindfulness – Surfing is my therapy, the gym keeps me moving, and I find calm through meditation, beach walks, and time in nature.

  • Community & Coaching – I run a Men’s Circle to support honest conversation, connection, and accountability. I’m also an Emotional Coach, helping individuals and couples reset their emotional code and live with more awareness.

  • What I Value – Authenticity, presence, real laughter, and creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and 100% themselves.

  • What Fills My Cup – Surf sessions on the Tweed Coast, Almond Lattes at the local café, walks with Panda, and taking care of our little coastal haven in Pottsville.:

Whether I’m crafting a ceremony, facilitating a men’s circle, or catching a few waves my focus is always on connection, presence, and creating meaningful moments.

Before I found my calling as a celebrant, I wore a few different hats — all of them creative and some people focused. It’s taught me how to listen to and speak many languages of life:

  • Musician – I’ve always loved connecting with people through rhythm and storytelling.

  • Baker & Cook – Creating moments of joy with food was a huge part of my life.

  • Gardener – I find peace and creativity in nature (plus, dirt under the nails keeps me grounded).

  • Dodgem Car Operator – Yep, true story! Let’s just say I’ve seen people celebrate in all kinds of ways.

  • Tradie – I’ve built a few things in my time, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty.

  • Radio Presenter – I love a good yarn and connecting with people through voice and energy.

I’ve always been drawn to connection, performance, and making people feel something.

Becoming a celebrant brought all those passions together — and I haven’t looked back since.

About Ben – Meeting Tarnie & Growing the Carlyle’s

  • How We Met – I met my gorgeous wife Tarnie in a totally unexpected, cosmic kind of way — instant sparks, undeniable connection. One of those “I wasn’t looking, it found me” moments.

  • Right Place, Right Time – I was finally in the right head and heart space to meet the love of my life… and she had way better taste than me — my wardrobe quickly moved in!

  • Adventures Together – We worked and travelled across Australia together in the movie industry — side by side, learning, growing, chasing stories and sunsets.

  • Home Base – With some savings, we bought land in Pottsville and built a house… right in the middle of having our first baby! (Wouldn’t recommend the timing, but no regrets!)

  • Family Begins – Our son Nattai arrived mid-build, choosing us before we even knew we were ready. Two years later, Makani joined the team — Tarnie was pregnant with him at our wedding in 2011!

  • Full House, Full Hearts – Fast forward to now, we’ve got Nattai 15 and Makani is 13 years old, and Panda the Bordoodle keeping us on our toes. Life is loud, full, and absolutely awesome.
