Looking for the perfect Byron hinterland elopement location? Olivia & Jon found it at Temple Farmhouse, a stunning hinterland retreat just 20 minutes west of Byron Bay. Traveling up from Sydney, the couple chose an intimate, stylish elopement surrounded by rolling hills, native rainforest, and 360-degree views.
Temple Farmhouse: A Hidden Gem for a Byron Hinterland Elopement
Nestled in the lush Byron Bay hinterland, Temple Farmhouse offers a designer’s dream backdrop for small weddings and elopements. With its striking architecture and North Coast styling, it’s a venue made for romantic escapes and unforgettable ceremonies.
On their wedding day, Olivia & Jon became one of the first couples to say “I do” in the venue’s new outdoor green chapel — a breathtaking ceremony space tucked amongst the trees, anchored by a majestic central tree. Even with a stiff breeze, the setting was pure magic.

A Heartfelt Ceremony in Nature
With no guests physically present, the vibe was deeply personal and emotional. As their Byron Bay marriage celebrant, I love stepping in to ground the couple, ease their nerves, and make the moment truly memorable. For Olivia & Jon, their loved ones tuned in via Zoom — many even dressed for the occasion from home!
The couple exchanged vows under the forest canopy, surrounded only by nature, love, and a touch of wind-swept magic. It was an honor to witness and officiate such a soulful celebration.
How They Met: Olivia & Jon
Olivia and Jon’s story began in London, at a pub garden during the Notting Hill Carnival. Jon, fresh from Australia on a travel adventure, spotted Olivia and thought she was shy, stunning, and sweetly nerdy. Olivia found Jon hilarious, very Aussie—and briefly wondered if he was gay, thanks to his relaxed vibe and lack of obvious flirting.
Numbers were exchanged, sparks flew, and by date three Jon was cooking carbonara at his share house in Willesden Green. Love was confessed in Edinburgh, wardrobes merged, and their adventures across the UK and Europe began.
When Jon’s visa ended, it was time to head home. Olivia didn’t hesitate—she followed her heart all the way to Australia.
